The NHS retention documentation is pretty robust, listing in an "easy to
use" table form. Anyone working with records can identify the expected
retention periods in the knowledge that the table considers legislative as
well as policy requirements. Usually NHS Trust policies are written with
this in mind.
It's all built into the Records Management: NHS Code of Practice.

I believe that it will give you a good starting platform, but remember it's
one thing to have these documents and policies but quite another to
implement the cultural change needed to ensure that people understand and
comply with the requirements. That's where good Record Managers come in
handy!

Subject: Re: [data-protection] Document Retention
Hello
I am hoping I can pose a question and ask members if they would like to
"share" their experience, document retention schedules, policies and
procedures.
We are currently looking for best practice and have found conflicting
retention periods for housing related documents a small example would
be:
- Housing Application Forms
- Former Tenancy Files
- Anti-Social Behavior documents
- Maintenance/Repairs documents
If anyone is or has gone through the experience of developing a robust
schedule, policy or procedure I would really appreciate your insight. I
am happy to share what I have collected and developed.
Thank you in anticipation
