Dear Colleagues
I am currently reviewing our appraisal scheme with a view to tying it in more closely with changes to our annual planning and review processes at School and Office level which, in turn are based on the strategic planning processes.
A particular issue I have been asked to address is the question of monitoring of appraisal - who should do it, how, to whom are issues referred and what sanctions should be called upon in the event of non compliance.
I would personally want to be trying to sell the benefits of appraisal, help colleagues to understand what's in it for them and reach the position were appraisal is happening across the institution. Now for the real world - would anyone be willing to share what they do to give me some ideas. It would also be useful to know how your appraisal scheme operates more generally and how it is perceived and used by staff.
Thanks in anticipation
Kevin
