Although we are one Data Controller though we obtain information for specified purposes and therefore can't automatically share with other Departments. However, at this Council when people phone in we advise them that this will update their change of address details to other Departments in order that the information is accurate. Don't think we have had any objections yet.

Not really a answer but I would suggest that it is the duty of the LA
(data controller) to keep all personal information accurate and up to
date (Principle 4) and the data subject has actively informed the data
controller of a change of circumstances.

Has anyone any comments to make on the following. Customer rings LA call
centre and tells them they have moved (either within the area or out of
the
LA's area) we then contact other depts such as housing, libraries,
leisure
centres etc so that if they are registered with them they can update
their
records.
I suggest asking for permission to share when taking the change of
address
details.
