Maybe I'm missing something. Why are people opting out and what are they opting-out of?
This specific mobile directory enquiry service is a private directory that sits outside of the
UK regulatory framework for DQ services. Opting-out to become XD will only make you XD
in this specific database and not the national OSIS database. How many times should
someone opt-out?
More importantly, the PECRs clearly require that an individual's details should not be
entered into a directory unless the individual is advised of this intention and given the
opportunity to decide whether they want their data entering and if so, what data. The
PECRs also require DQ providers to ensure individuals can - free of charge - verify, correct
or withdraw their data. Has anyone found this service to comply with these requirements?
