It would certainly help from the washing perspective but he experiences
anxiety removing things from his home. We discussed him bringing a laptop to
another venue and he said he wouldn't want to do that. I'll have a look at
those sites though as it does seem laptops are made more durable than
desktops!

Suggest you consider ruggedised laptop of the kind used by journalists,
medics
and military etc - will withstand the water and could go to the IT trainer.
Tablet version might address some of the washing of notes issues?
