The Disability and Dyslexia Support Service (DDSS) at the University of
Sheffield are currently undergoing a service evaluation on 'Managing
Demand'. The focus of the review is to determine how the DDSS can
manage demand for its services more effectively, especially during peak
times of year with a view to:
* Maintaining a timely and professional service to students (taking
into account the demands of disability legislation)
* Regulating pressure on DDSS staff
As part of this process we would like to engage with key stakeholders
including external agencies and similar services at other HEI's to
determine how best they manage demand. It would be appreciated if you
can spare a few minutes to answer the questions below:
1. How do you manage demand at busy times of the year?
2. What systems are in place (formal and informal) to help manage demand?
3. What staff and other services are involved to ensure that your
service is efficient and effective?
4. How is your service reviewed and monitored, in terms of managing
demand?
The key outcomes from consultation with service users and other
professional services both internal and external to the University will
help to shape an action plan clearly highlighting how DDSS can provide a
professional and timely service to students. All views expressed and
information given will be confidential and will not be attributed to any
individual or institution.
Any good practice you can share would be greatly appreciated. I look
forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes
Claire
