Thinking back, I learned all the principles and the key schedules (e.g Schedule 2) at a high level off by heart. Then hopefully your understanding of the Act and remembering these key aspects will see you through the open questions.
The multiple choice is a good way of getting nearly half the marks overall (this may be wrong now as I sat it in 2007) which can potentially, if you get them all correct pass the exam for you. Although you sometimes have to read the question a couple of times.
