Street View does not breach privacy laws, says ICO
The Information Commissioner's Office ('ICO') has ruled that Google's Street
View, the service recently introduced in Britain that displays 360-degree views
of homes and roads, presents no threat to personal privacy. The ICO
investigated Street View in March following a formal complaint lodged by
Privacy International, which was itself prompted by outrageous close up's of
drunks and naked babies. In its response, the ICO also said that the use of
the service does not require the consent of individuals (one point raised in the
complaint). Privacy International is said to be 'disappointed.'
