Hello All
We have a student on a leave of absence, with deteriorating Usher's
Syndrome. He is a Biomedical Engineering student. We are trying to work out
support for his return in September, however, the department have brought up
several issues they are concerned about. The main points are the reliance on
specialist software and the use of machine tools. Does anyone have any ideas
how we might be able to make the necessary adjustments, particularly for the
machinery? We are also wondering how screen reading software will work with
his hearing loss.
He has yet to have a DSA assessment.
The department has mooted the idea of him transferring to a different subject,
although they are very amenable to make any adjustments possible.
I have checked out all the sites recently posted about support for students
doing science subjects, but no joy!
Thanks
