In fact the various recommendations following on from O'Donnell are
suggesting that a properly encrypted network communication is probably a
*better* way to transfer sensitive data than post, etc.
The small twist is that "properly encrypted"; the big twist is, indeed,
what happens to the information at the two ends of the network
connection.
