Claire,
I was asked this very same question for a Deaf student going out to
placement. We came to an agreement with the placement providers to fund
half of the training and that they should fund the other half. Initially we
had asked them to fund the training costs themselves but they said they
couldn't afford it and didn't feel they could take the student without the
training. So we had to settle to fund half each. Hope this helps.
Kind Regards

Subject: Placement Provider Training
One of our deaf students will shortly be commencing her placement. We
have been approached by the placement provider who has asked if we would
be willing to pay for deaf awareness training for the staff who are
going to be working with the student. Has anyone ever come across this
situation before and if so, was funding given for training?
Many thanks.
With best wishes
Claire
