We have delivered training gratis for placement providers from within our own resources. Where the placement is an integral part of
the course eg nursing, teaching, social work etc I would see this as a University responsibility, I think.
Where a student is taking a year long sandwich or voluntary type placement (particularly where it is paid) I believe it then becomes
the responsibility of the employer.

One of our deaf students will shortly be commencing her placement. We have been approached by the placement provider who has asked
if we would be willing to pay for deaf awareness training for the staff who are going to be working with the student. Has anyone
ever come across this situation before and if so, was funding given for training?
