Craig
I see a considerable number of risks here
a) that if followed, even by some staff, he (I assume only a macho man
would be so foolish)
HE will get so rapidly overwhelmed by (irrelevant) emails that he
will lose the use of his email, (not be able to sort wheat from chaff)
b) He may also 'break' the organisation's email system limits on email
folders / folder or email or user's email size etc.
c) Surely disclosure (processing) of personal data [even within an
organisation]
and especially of sensitive personal data needs to be carefully
regulated
essentially to those who need to know it? (Personal) Data
Minimisation, Privacy enhancing technologies;
Privacy Impact Assessments? This flies in the face of all such
things . Proportionality? Poof-out-of-the-window.
d) All sorts of other privileged and sensitive info would swash across
his desk
(or at least his inbox) that he has no particular need or right to see.
Perhaps it could be suggested to him
a) What would be the result if such a policy hit the press, as it would
surely do?
(Bring organisation into disrepute at the very least)
b) What would the ICO think (I could see an Enforcement Notice looming)
c) What if someone obtained his 'direction' using FOI and then tried to
Judicially Review it?
The courts would, I think, make mincemeat of him and it. Doesn't
bear thinking about
Please tell me this is an early April Fool's Joke...? PLEASE?
Bob Waixel
(This was after 5 minutes consideration - I'm sure I could double my
risks list after a further 5 minute's thought!)
