Dear Colleagues,
Edge Hill University is undertaking a substantial review of its support
services with and for disabled students. As such, we are consulting
widely to compare our practice and provision with other HEIs
We’d be interested in hearing from colleagues in other universities
to find out how you support your disabled students; how this support is
structured and how the quality of provision is strategically monitored.
If you could spend a few minutes considering the following I would be
extremely grateful:
What percentage (or numerical increase) has there been in the incidence
of disabled and SpLD students in your university over the last three
years?
In which department is the Disability/Inclusion Service placed in your
university?
Is your SpLD provision managed separately from your Disability
provision?
Do you supply: a) your own non-medical helpers? b) use an agency? c) a
combination of both?
What methods do you use to monitor the quality of your support to
students?
How do you involve the views of disabled and non-disabled students in
monitoring the quality of your support?
We would be happy to collate responses to these brief questions, so
that others can share and compare.
Best wishes,
David Johnstone
Inclusion Co-ordinator
