I would like to endorse Ian's excellent contribution to the debate. The way
forward seems to me to lie in steering the SLC away from the imposition of
arbitrary rules that may well fall foul of the DDA, and towards an
alternative means of achieving whatever financial objective they seek.
Collectively, we should be able to do this; and if we succeed we will
obviate the need to address the more alarming scenarios involving breaches
of the DDA, potential falls in the retention rates of vulnerable students,
and lawsuits.
