This sounds like one for the DIUS.

Subject: qualifications for psychologists
We have recently had a dyslexia assessment report submitted which was carried out by an Educational Psychologist who does not hold a practising certificate from BPS but he is a member of the Association of British Educational Psychologists. The LEA has turned down the report, leaving the severely dyslexic student with no DSA, as the EP has no practising certificate in spite of the fact that the report is competent and uses the relevant tests, as outlined in the working party guidelines. The student paid £400 for the assessment and is understandably not happy about the prospect of handing out another £3-400. Has anyone out there had a similar experience; what is the status of the ABEP and can you suggest any solutions?
Thank you.
