We are in the process of developing a student services web site, and we
would be interested in hearing from other universities who have been
involved in a similar development or redevelopment.
We would be interested in knowing about any highly accessible Student
Services web sites that you would recommend. And we are particularly
interested in exploring the following questions:
1. Is there a one-size-fits-all approach - i.e. a way of organising a
web site so that it is accessible to all users - or is the best approach
one of providing different web sites for different target groups (e.g.
users with dyslexia)? And if the latter, can you provide any examples of
where this has been done effectively?
2. In an ideal web development world:
a. What technical solutions should we be using as part of our web
development (e.g. text sizing options)?
b. What tips do you have for developing accessible content (e.g. alt
tags; bookmarks)?
3. How would you involve disabled users in the development of the web
site?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
