Annoyingly I can recall something recently but can't find it Anna. The
HEA do mention that some HEIs have monitored the effect of notes in
advance but don't cite any reference, see

Subject: Research on Lecture Notes in Advance
Dear All,
Is anyone aware of any research which investigates the effect on
attendance/participation when students are given access to lecture notes
in advance? I'm sure I have seen something in the past but can't seem
to track it down.
Many thanks,
Anna
