I think you are too kind on them. There's provisions in PECR about
identification of the senders of messages which they appear to have
failed to comply with. Me, I'd have asked them for nominal damages of
£50 to be paid to charity.
I received another £50 recently which was paid after an unsolicited mail
with very little demur (the sender was genuine and the cause was a
non-verified opt-in with someone putting in my email address for some
reason). That's the second £50 I've managed to donate to charity without
resorting to the small claims track as you can see at in the list at
www.reprieve.gg (which I also mention in passing in case anyone's
feeling charitable today).
