Hi all,
Apologies for the double post! I've found the LSDA guidance on inclusive risk assessment - go to
http://www.lsneducation.org.uk/pubs/ and search for 'risk'.

I would suggest that you carry out the risk assessment in partnership
with the applicant prior to them commencing work in this environment.
They will be able to identify aspects of the environment that may impact
on their visual impairment eg. Lighting - glare or insufficient light,
distance from equipment, whiteboards etc to allow for functional vision.
This risk assessment will highlight any reasonable adjustments to the
working environment e.g increased light, task lights, blinds drawn on
windows or any low vision aids that will assist the applicant.

Subject: risk assessment - PGCE student
Dear All,
We have an applicant for a PGCE secondary science course who has a
visual impairment. As the student would be supervising children in
school laboratories we feel that a risk assessment is required. Do any
other institutions have experience of this? At what stage was the
assessment carried out, and by whom?
Thank you.
