Is this just a year abroad? We supported a blind student who did a year in France - she still had her DSA and benefits while she was abroad, and was also allowed some Socrates additional funding - quite complicated to apply for, as we had to estimate her expenses based only on what we already knew, but without knowing likely costs in France.
There was an equivalent (ish) support service at her chosen university, and the local (French) society for blind people did a lot of useful work.
It may be worth checking out the support services at a few universities to see what they say about overseas students.
best wishes,

Subject: DSA in Germany
Dear all,
We have a student who is thinking about studying in Germany and wondered if there was a DSA or equivalent system there. Does anyone know if there is such a system?
Any advice gratefully received.
Best wishes,
