Hi Christina,
Sorry, Im unable to offer any advice on your situation as we have
never had note-taking refused for a student with hearing impairment,
however I am currently assisting a student in getting an electronic
Stethoscope and your email stood out to me- will your institution pay
for the Stethoscope now the LA has rejected to pay for it?
Does anyone else have any advice about buying assistive Stethoscopes
or how likely the LA/university are to pay for this support?
Thanks!

Subject: Hearing impairment and note-taker
The local authority of one of our hearing impaired medical student
rejected the Needs Assessment recommendations for an electronic
stethoscope and a note-taker as they are "reasonable adjustments for
the university to make to enable you (student) to access the course."
The LA has accepted all the other recommendations for computer
equipment and general allowance.
We have never had note-taking support for hearing impaire students
rejected before. Has anyone else had a similar rejection?
