Subject: Channel 4 Documentary

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris McLaughlin and I am an assistant prodcuer at london
based
TV production company, MAverick Television. I hope everybody is well and

doesn't mind me emailing them. In a nutshell we are working on a Channel
4
series for which we are looking for deaf and disabled people aged 18+
who
would be interested in making a short film and having it aired on
Channel
4.

Last year we made a series called New Shoots, where deaf and disabled
directors were given the opportunity to make their first 1/2 hour
documentary. The channel liked the series so much they have
recommissioned
it but in a slightly different version. This year we are still looking
for
new deaf and disabled talent, but the films will be between 3-5 minutes
and can be a range of different genres - drama, documentary, animation
or
music video. On top of this we will also be making a documentary about
each of the films being made. In short we are interested in hearing from

people who are as happy to be infront of the camera as they are behind.

The series is entitled, The Shooting Party and it will bring together a
group of people to explore the real world of film-making. Across the
series of 12 programmes, each member of the group gets the opportunity
to
make one short film and also helps two other members of the group to
make
their films. The Shooting Party follows the whole process from first
ideas
to finished films. Each week a new episode traces the making of one
film,
and ends with the screening of the short film itself.

We are looking for a diverse group of people with great ideas for short
films, plus passion, personality, and the ability to shine on screen as
well as off. Previous broadcast and/or film-making experience is welcome

but not necessary as training and support will be given - we're looking
for people who are creative, imaginative and committed to turning their
idea into a finished film. On top of this, we're offering an award of
further training in television or film for the winning filmmaker,
decided
by a panel of industry professionals. The subject of the films can be
about
anything, but must feel contemporary and original. All applicants must
be
deaf or disabled and over 18. We recognise the Disability Discrimination

Act definition of disability.

I would really appreciate it if everyone could spread the word as far
and
wide as possible. Maybe you are support staff who know students that
would
be suitable or maybe you are a student yourself who would like to get
involved. I have attached a flyer we have been sending out and
even a quick email or phone call to myself could get the ball rolling -
my email is [log in to unmask] and tel. is 02078746623.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this letter. I look forward to
hearing from the next generation of film - makers!!

Regards
Chris McLaughlin
