Hi Diana,
At the risk of sounding terribly draconian, we require medical evidence
or a Psychologists report (depending on the disability) before we put
anything in place. Only when a disability is visibly obvious would we
not always get the evidence and even then if they want to apply for DSA
then they need to provide it. So except in exceptional circumstances
the rule tends to be, no evidence, no support. However, we're not that
brutal when we inform the students!!!!
Kind regards

Subject: Could you help?
Hello all
I hope you can help.
We are a further education college.
We have students who disclose a disability but then do not have any
evidence to corroborate
and we have problems with this as exam boards etc require reports and
evidence. Secondly this is a sensitive area particularly for some
students who may have a mental health difficulty, and who are not
required to provide and further details. However, in relation to
medical problems and/ or sensory disabilities where materials or
assessment methods may need to be modified we are required to evidence.
I would really appreciate your advice. What happen in your institutions?
Many thanks
Diana
