Hi all
I've recently met with a couple of students (for DSA assessments) who've
asked if the DSA can help cover the cost of accomodation on campus. One of
them needs an accessible, larger room, the other just needs en-suite
facilities because of a medical condition. In both cases, the cost of the
rooms are higher than other, non-adapted or non en-suite rooms.
I assumed by now that HEIs won't charge more than the standard fee for a
room if a student needs an accessible or en-suite room because of a
disability/medical condition. The DRC provide guidance about this on their
website:
http://www.drc-gb.org/employers_and_service_provider/education/higher_education/residential_services.aspx
Can anyone convince me that it's right to use DSA funding to cover these
additional costs?
