I recommend this ACPO manual, with a request form at page 58 onwards
(which should be the same form that the school get to see when filled
in). Helping schools work out when the police are *requiring* data
[under some statute] rather than *requesting* [under DPA 29(3)] is
probably the most valuable thing you could do.
