Dear Julie
We have an informal arrangement which I try to resist as far as
possible. Having come from a personnel/HR background I think support
of disabled staff should come under that, however I do get involved -
it can depend on the level of awareness of personnel staff of
disability issues. We don't have any additional budget or resources,
and take the view that any costs, such as dyslexia diagnostic
assessments, employers contribution to access to work scheme etc,
would need to come out of either the personnel budget or managers
budget for the particular department concerned.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Brief questions about the remit of your disability service
Dear colleagues
We would be most grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to
answer the following brief questions about the remit of the disability
service within your institution:
1. Is your service exclusively for students or do you also have a
remit for advising and supporting disabled staff?
2. If you do advise and support disabled staff is this a formal or
informal arrangement?
3. If it is a formal arrangement have you been allocated any
additional resources to undertake support work with disabled staff?
We'd be very happy to receive responses on or off list or, if you
would prefer, by phone on 0141 330 2270 (direct line).
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Julie Summers
