This ties in with a question I was about to post.
We want to have an online community on our website for our alumni (pretty
much offering the same as MySpace/Facebook, but geared more to our alumni)
and the most attractive company that hosts these pages is a US company.
I've not seen the contract yet but they have just incorporated the Safe
Harbor Agreement into it. Am I right in thinking that in theory this will
allow us to transfer data from here in the UK to their secure servers in
the US?
The data we would transfer would be names and email addresses so that
they would be able to search for each other on our online directory - no
financial records or anything too sensitive. Like MySpace, they would then
be able to upload photos, start blogs, fill in personal details etc which
would all be held on their servers.
Any advice/suggestions/warnings would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Lee Harrison
