Dear Heather,
In order to address this, one would have to look at the detail of the particular issues that the student faces. We have come across this before and things can be resolved usually. If you would like to speak about this off list, please contact me on [log in to unmask]

Subject: Nursing Examination
Dear All
I wonder if anyone has any experience of exam concessions for nursing
students with dyslexia? The student has sat the one and only exam on the
course 3 times and failed. The recommended concessions have been put in
place for example: extra time, use of PC.
The course is Adult Nurse (NUAD)Diploma of Higher Education.
The student feels that she struggles with exams as a result of her
dyslexia. This is noted in Educational Psychologist Report however,
concessions for an alternative are not mentioned.
I know that nursing courses are governed by regulations and that
competencies cannot be changed.
Does anyone have any experience of alternative exam arrangements or any
strategies that may support this student?
Thanks in advance.
Heather
