I am currently doing freelance marketing work for a private software
company. I am paid on an hourly basis.
Before I received my first pay the company requested my National Insurance
No.
Their words were: "Yes please invoice me for the time you have spent to
date. I would also be grateful if you could include your NI No. on the
invoice."
I thought that this meant that they were going to pay me as an employee,
deducting tax etc. This turned out not to be the case.
I assume that they are required to do this. I didn't ask them.
Any comments?
