Yes -they must fill in a PN1 in order to have registered all their
details, but why the DSA1 if filled in completely [like for a PG
student] won't do, I can't imagine!

Subject: DSA payments
We find that it's essential for students to have completed the PR1or the
NHS bursary form to continue to be eligible for DSA each year. I
haven't - yet - come across any LEA requiring a DSA form in
addition. However, students who apply only for DSA (e.g. postgrads)
need to complete a DSA form for each year of their course.
Most LEAs seem happy to confirm over the telephone whether or not a
student has funding agreed as often the students themselves aren't sure
- although we can sometimes get the information direct from our central
database.
On a slightly different but related topic, has anyone else been in
contact with any LEAs about the wording on the front of the current DSA
form? It implies that undergraduates only wanting DSA need not complete
a PN1 or PR1, but our local LEA (Oxfordshire) say that their system
won't work unless a student also completes the PN1/PR1.
