We have OBR - but results are not that good.
Most recent scanner models are not compatible, because the light in the scanner hits the scanned material at right angles which does not create a shadow to show up the dots.
Best results are with older models.
Our students have chosen to use Jaws in examination conditions.

Did you know you can by OBR Optical Braille Recognition, a bit like OCR
Optical character Recognition.
I have not use this but people at

past.

I worked for ten years at Chorleywood School for the Blind, and all
public
examinations were taken with the pupils using Perkins Braillers, and
the
scripts were transcribed by the staff, warts and all (the scripts,
that is, not the
staff). For some visually impaired students, that old fashioned
machine is
the natural writing medium.
