There was a fascinating series of TV programmes last December on the
work of the parole boards who decide whether individuals can be released
on parole based on good behaviour while in prison. Part of that
assessment was whether they would represent a danger to the public. Not
a job I'd want, and none of them easy decisions.
There's an article about it on the BBC website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6114718.stm
Well worth watching out for if it's ever repeated.
