No the stored number is internal to the system. Finger is scanned each
time which gives speed and accuracy, which is the main reason to go with
it. Perhaps books. I was reading between the lines of the IT
implications :-)

I'm afraid I misunderstood. I thought the number generated by the
fingerprint would be produced on some sort of id card, which I assumed
could be done with the UPN. I didn't realise they would have their thumb
scanned every time. Wasn't it for library books though, not dinners ?
Maybe I've missed some of the posts - if so, I apologise.
