I'd say this was a medical condition that needed to be taken into
account although not necessarily by the Disability Office....What
happens when you have pregnant students for example? Here if a student
is towards the end of her pregnancy registry make allowances for exams
and academic staff talk to the student about what adjustment is
appropriate, sometimes it's nothing, other times it can be quite
debilitating.
Common sense on behalf of the academics for this one I think!

Subject: Fibroids
Dear All,
I've had a query from a student and neither of us quite know how to
proceed. She has been referred by her faculty to our team because she
has fibroids which cause heavy bleeding and acute pain during her
menstral cycle, but don't seem to affect her at any other time. This
condition means that she often can't get to lectures or can't hand in
work as for at times she cannot come in to University.
Would this be counted as a Disability? It certainly seems as it could
be to me. If so, has anyone had any luck with DSA for this?
Regards
Pauline
