Dear Colleague
Apologies for cross posting:
Loughborough University has recently completed the DART project. This tool
can be viewed at:
http://dart.lboro.ac.uk/
Focusing mainly on engineering & the built environment, the aim of the DART
Project was to enhance the experience of disabled students by enabling
institutions, faculties, departments, and individual members of staff to
assess their current level of provision - in relation to learning and
teaching - as it affects disabled students, and by offering clear guidance
on how to make the curriculum more accessible.
The DART Project officially ended on December 31st. 2005, having achieved
all of the objectives originally set out in the project plan, and agreed
with the funding body (HEFCE).
The primary outputs of the project are:
* Twenty-Five student Case Studies. These can be accessed on the 'resources'
section of this website.
* The DART Auditing & Diagnostic Tool. This provides access through a
searchable database to a wealth of advice and guidance on providing a more
accessible curriculum and meeting the needs of disabled students.
As the project is now complete, I would be grateful if you would take the
time to view the tool as it stands and comment directly to me with any
feedback you may have.
Additionally, the university is currently considering ways in which we can
expand the contexts of the tool (both in terms of the learning and teaching
contexts and the course which are covered) to provide a larger resource for
staff.
Should you have any suggestions as to case studies or possibilities for
development, I would be most grateful if you would contact me directly.
Many thanks
James Kirby
