Following the change in legislation affecting the use of the Electoral Roll,
I have been asked to clarify what the issues are in respect of historical
copies of the Register.
Our Electoral Services Officer retains old registers for 15 years to check
the validity of Overseas Elector applications. However, are the old
registers available for public inspection. Apparently the current
legislation does not make it clear what if any conditions apply.
Also when is old information considered historical information?
Your views on this would be appreciated.
