I promised you an update after I ask the UKIC's office o look again at
refusing to ask BT to act further on my Section 10 notice.
Today I received a letter explaining why they feel it has been acted upon.
They say (paraphrasing) that, because I required BT to stop processing my
data "in this manner" and because BT have altered the manner of their
processing, that BT has complied.
They ask me to raise a further section 10 notice against BT to require that
my personal data be removed from the BT SMS Self Service Bill Payment
Enquiry service element.
They offer me the chance to make a complaint
Now, I am perplexed. I am a member of the public using the English language
and asking in good faith that my data be not processed. I ask the UKIC to
investigate my complaint, and they say that my precise words are important
to the complaint. Accordingly I will be following both their pieces of
advice.
OK, you can say to yourself "Don Quixote found himself another windmill to
tilt at" if you like. But this windmill is aggravating. I have been
refused the outcome I believe I served a notice for because BT has altered
something subtle. To me this sis not justice being done nor justice being
seen to be done.
