Many, many thanks Chris. I've been desperately trying to find the details
of the case and now have them. Another success for The List!
If anyone is interested the case was Information Commissioner v Pritchard
& North (trading as 'V Chasers') heard at Brecon Magistrates in November
2002.
Karen Pritchard and Jacqueline North pleaded guilty to 36 and 2 offences
respectively of unlawfully obtaining and selling personal information
obtained from the Benefits Agency (now DWP) by means of deception.
Pritchard asked for 348 and North for 60 similar offences to be taken into
consideration. The pair had pretended on occasions to be from the Inland
Revenue.
Pritchard was fined £2,000 with £600 costs and North £300 with £300 costs.
regards,
Kevin Broadfoot
