I have been registered with TPS for quite a while not (and have not
changed my number recently) so this is a reintroduction the that which I
have been "missing" for some time.
I used to have a good line in lectures to double glazing salespeople -
there was the one about beautiful original stained glass, etc, etc
Victorian box sash windows and the innappropriateness of removing them and
the second, which usually raised more of a reaction, about whether they
offered a cantilevered conservatory option for upper floor flats and what
the chances were of getting planning permission.
On the callers subject, my last encounter was someone fromt he Carphone
Warehouse who called at around 9pm saying (through the intercom) "It's
about your landline please come to the door". I asked him if he was from
BT reporting a local problem with the line that he was wishing to fix and
he just kept repeating "It's about your landline.." I finally extracted
the company name from him and wizzed off a complaint to the Carphone
Warehouse website, to which I got an email reply. They haven't been back,
either in person or telephonically. I react similarly to the "It's about
your gas meter" callers. I'm sure by now all those companies who share
data have me down as an angry mad person, and leave well alone. Long may
it continue.
