Although I have heard people (who ought to know) say that you can get on
the sex offenders register by stealing underwear from a washing line. If
this is nevertheless an Urban Myth, I'd welcome clarification.
As for publishing the list, this is (as far as I can tell) universally
regarded within Westminster and the Police as tantamount to open season
for vigilantes (remember the riots in Southampton in the Summer of
2000).
