It would make sense for the alternate email to be a generic one that can be
easily remembered and checked by a team. I recommend something like
privacy@....

I don't believe it does, everyone is hanging off of ICO guidance. If the
organisation takes all reasonable measures to advise the applicant then
the onus should then be on the applicant.
However the guidance applies only in respect of FoI requests as I
understand it.
