I wouldn't disagree.
However much lip services is paid to CRM. It also means different things to
different people. There is no obligation to undertake CRM programs. However
Organisations who choose to implement good CRM should have competitive
advantage where they operate in a competitive market.
From a personal perspective a company which under resources on DPA training
to its frontline staff have a large gap in CRM. In my view a good call
centre should never use DPA as an argument for non-disclosure. There are
better arguments.
My observation about SAR was simply what the legislation states. That is the
minimum which has to be followed for a compliance defence.

Surely in an age of CRM, contact centres etc - a SAR to the organisation
itself should be routed to the appropriate person. I'm having a squabble
with BCA, that book club mob based in Swindon. I put in a SAR request to
them on Tuesday and will fully kick off about it if I don't have a response
in the 40 day period. As with so many call centres, one assumes when they
say they can't do something due to "data protection", that they are fully
conversant when someone turns the tables...
