I was also thinking of the wiser issue: What is on the chip and is read
from it? And what happens if one is a chipophile and changes jobs to a new
chip-insister?
As a "secondary" issue (!), is this lawful in the UK?

The majority of people won't want an implant, and so either won't do the
jobs that require a chip, or won't work for the companies that insist on
chipping. In effect, companies who want to do this kind of thing to their
employees will only be able to recruit from the narrower pool of people who
don't mind being chipped for money. What they gain from a superficial
feeling that their system is more secure, they lose by placing artificial
parameters around who can work for them. And this kind of action actually
throws down the gauntlet to every hacker and activist who wants a
high-profile challenge - to prove that even a system involve implants can
be cracked, which somebody will.
It can't really be seen as an abuse of privacy unless they can in some way
compel staff to be chipped. The consequences of this new technology will
depend on the willingness of people to go along with it.

It is definitely of interest. But is it an abuse of privacy or simply an
abuse?

New angle on 'personal data'?
