It's interesting. The UKIC can act very quickly when necessary. I have
heard from the very nice manager. He says he head back form the legal team
who said that there had been "Quite a large number of emails flying around
about this today".
If only they'd involved their privacy officer first this would not have
happened.
Now I wonder how he will answer all our complaints. It really should not be
"Case closed because they've stopped doing it", it really shouldn't.
I experimented at about 4:15 and texted the service with a number. It has
so far not replied. Perhaps it is down. But the website is still up. So
it still invites people to text. Now, of course, we are wasting money by
doing so. No return message, not even one saying "this service has been
suspended"
