Funnily enough my sister only yesterday asked me who had a a particular
type of phone (won't say the name in case I am sued) in my house ...it
happened to be my son's friend and she was able to get into his files
and was able to send him a text message....

It's cheaper than you think! http://www.followus.co.uk/
At least it's opt-in! Apparently they send a text like this: " 'R Jones
(07970 111111) has asked to locate your mobile. Please reply '1074' to
agree. More information at www.followus.co.uk'"

Subject: [data-protection] Geolocation using your Batphone
We were chatting in the office this afternoon about the BT SMS mess. A
colleague said "What about the fact that I can locate you wherever you
are using your mobile phone?"
I knew the technology existed, but not how HE could locate ME. So he
told me.
If I did as we all do, and leave my batphone on my desk he could lock it
in to a service he paid for on a website somewhere and I would never
know. I mean never. Because he would have intercepted all text
messages informing me that the service was being switched on.
He may have done it. The thing is I can't tell. There is no way I can
ever know about it
So, if it amuses him, he can track me when I take a pee, when I go
shopping, when I go to the gym, and, if he is a suspicious man and has
put his nearest and dearest into it, can see if they and I meet (as long
as I take my phone, that is).
Stalking and stealth. My only consolation is that he has to pat a
trivial sum of money to use the service.
If you use this technology to locate your staff, do they know? I used
to work for a large company that issued mobiles to us. They could have
been issued "ready set up to snoop"
I used to work with a guy who hated his boss. Actually we all found him
intrusive. When my colleague was in my living room in Bracknell the
phone often used to ring "It's Peter (boss)..... Where are you?"
"On the M6 Peter, bad line though...."
Peter would have had a field day as a control freak with this service
