I think they are termed as "fishing expeditions". We checked out a
benefit fraud one once, and they quoted some other powers that they had
- after checking we found it had no significance so I would be very
careful or ask for further ifnormation. It may be that they just want
an address and I agree, Las should not be used for this. Apart from
anything else, Council Tax legislation does not allow us to disclose.

But what about general benefit fraud etc, student grant fraud, we've
even had congestion charging onto us. Is it not a bit cheeky of the
Police/ Local Authorities to use people like us to do their
investigative work.
I really would like to know what other people think about this,
particularly a police view.
