I joined the list a very long time ago, and perhaps I had to choose (or
was sent) a password. However, I "belong" to so many lists and
e-commerce sites that I am well past the point of being able to remember
them all, and I don't think it's a very good idea to have them all
written down somewhere.
I have never had to "change my settings" and if I want to search the
archives (or that part of the archive I don't have stored for years on
my laptop) then http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/archives/data-protection.html
... doesn't need a password to see the postings, merely to see the email
addresses of the posters. (NB, everything you post here is public!)
Sally?? Was that what you were expecting?
