I have had a couple of emails telling me that members have tried to get to
the survey and failed. My problem is that I can't duplicate this because I
am a moderator and have "extra rights" compared to a regular user.
Jiscmail has a helpline at [log in to unmask], but I think they may
have been simple password issues
If you are having problems please do not hesitate to email the helpline -
they are
great at help whenever I ask them - telling them the list name
"data-protection" and that you are having problems with getting to the
survey. This is a secondary reason for our leaving it open for two weeks -
we guessed we might have teething troubles :)
Progress so far? 6% have voted. Please do not be one of the 94%! A final
push before home time today would be good. Any chance we can hit 10% before
we go home?
I know surveys can feel like a pain, but this one affects you directly. The
text answers are optional, you can, if you like, just choose the radio
buttons. Or spend a moment or two longer telling us what you need as well.

I thought you might like a progress report.
As I said we do NOT get to see who has contributed. But you will see the
overall results, automatically, once the survey closes in two weeks.
We know (as moderators) how many people have voted. 4% of us so far.
That's pretty darned good so soon on a busy Monday morning. So I am
encouraging those who have not yet voted to vote. Not "Vote early and vote
often", but "Vote NOW!".
Remember, this is *your* list. We're just custodians for the present on
your behalf. Custodians need to understand the will of those for whom they
work, so we need to understand your will in order to work for you.
And no, I'm not going to deluge you with progress messages every ten minutes
about this survey. I may remind you a couple more times today, while the
announcement email with the link is nearish to the top of your mailbox and
you can still find it, after that it will probably reduce substantially.

Subject: [data-protection] The survey
Well, we know, now, what an announcement looks like for the survey: bland
and "announcementive". What we hope very much is that everyone will take a
very few moments to answer it. It really does not take long.
It really ought to say which questions are optional. I don't think it did.
The answer is that ALL free text boxes are optional as is the multiple
answer question. "If it looks as though it should be optional then it IS
optional".
We NEVER find out who has and who has not answered it, and obviously do not
find out who has voted for what unless you sign the free text boxes (please
don't, but we can't stop you, nor edit can we your name out of the answer
file).
The survey is imperfect. That is ok. All surveys can be improved the
moment they have been sent for completion.
It closes in two weeks time. That does not mean "It's ok, I will answer
later." You won't do that. It is for those who are on holiday right now to
be able to answer when they get back. Answer today, please.
I don't think you have to have a login, but I am not sure. We'll soon learn
if you do or not. Even so they are easy to create, and give you better
overall control of the list
