So, after skim reading this, the teaching establishment needs this data to
ensure valid attendance. That is fair and reasonable.
If they pass (including attending) then they pass.
Sickness and absence data is no business of the prospective employer. It is
a part of the qualification. Or have I got it wrong?

"As part of the criteria for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery
Council (NMC), students must undertake a total of 4,600 hours: 2300 hours
theory and 2,300 practice. The Award has been designed to meet the statutory
hours and therefore the University will monitor closely sickness and absence
to ensure students are eligible for registration as qualified
practitioners."
"Absence Reporting
Students are required to notify the Faculty of all absences according to the
following procedure. Students with the exception of those based at ***
should report direct to the appropriate Allocation Officer in the Practice
Learning Unit, *** students should report to *** College.
Report Format
The information required by the Practice Learning Unit/*** is as follows.
Full Name, Branch, Cohort or Intake.
If Sick (Estimated time absent)
If Absent (Authorised/Unauthorised)
On the first morning of absence, students should contact the Practice
Learning Unit. If absence exceeds three days, students are required to
submit a self-certificate form. Absence in excess of seven days must be
supported by a doctor's medical certificate.
You are to retain a copy (ie within your portfolio This information is
processed and forms a permanent validated record of attendance. The
Sickness/Absence Exception Reporting Form is to be returned at the end of
your period of practice placement. Your successful completion of the course
and subsequent registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council for your
PIN may be delayed if your record is incomplete.
If you are at risk of not completing the full 2,300 hours of practice, the
Practice Learning Unit Administration Officer will inform you in writing
prior to and during completion of your final practice placement. If you are
required to make up any hours then you will be expected to complete these at
the end of the course.
DO NOT COMPLETE DOUBLE OR ADDITIONAL SHIFTS TO MAKE UP FOR SICKNESS OR
ABSENCE WHILST ON PRACTICE PLACEMENT THIS WILL NOT BE CREDITED
Spot checks are carried out on a regular basis to monitor student's practice
placement attendance. If you do not advise the Faculty of the reason for
your absence and/or you fail to submit medical certificates when
appropriate, you may be discontinued from the programme."
